Before your appointment, please fill out the intake forms you were provided. This will help streamline our time at the appointment.
If you are coming for acupuncture treatment: Before your first appointment:
Make a point to eat within a couple of hours before you come to your appointment, preferably including some protein.
If you brush your tongue when you brush your teeth, try refrain from doing so on the the day of your appointment.
If possible, wear loose comfortable clothing that will roll up to elbows and knees, if needed.
Bring your completed forms along.
At your first appointment: Plan on spending about 90 minutes. At the first appointment, we will spend most of the time doing a thorough health history. If you are seeking treatment with acupuncture and it is appropriate, you will have an acupuncture treatment at the end of your appointment. You will then be done for the day.
At your second appointment: Plan on spending 90 minutes at the office. Following your first appointment, Ruth will go through the information you provided, research any questions you may have had. She will write her findings and build a treatment plan, recommendations for other resources and ideas for how you can maintain your health or help with your recovery at home. Much of your second appointment will be spent going through the findings and recommendations, allowing you time to ask questions and discussing how to proceed. If you are having acupuncture done, you will have a treatment at the end of the session.
Follow up appointments (if needed): Plan on spending 50-60 minutes. We will spend a a few minutes checking on your progress and then will proceed to acupuncture. If you are being treated for a long-term condition and several treatments will be needed, every few sessions, we will spend more time doing an assessment and discussing any new direction needed.
